Federal Trade Commission regulations implementing the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 require tax preparation firms to provide a statement of their privacy of information policies.
Parties to Whom We Disclose Information:
Our policy is to not disclose any nonpublic information about current or former clients obtained in the course of our practice except as required or permitted by law. Required disclosures include, for example, compliance with a subpoena or court order or professionally mandated peer review program. Permitted disclosures include those to employees and third parties as needed to provide the services you've requested as well as disclosures made specifically at your request, for example, providing a copy of your tax return to a mortgage lender.
Types of Nonpublic Information We Collect:
We collect information you provide, or obtained with your authorization, about your income and expenses, Social Security numbers and birthdates of taxpayers and their dependents, and otherwise as needed to prepare your tax returns and provide other services you request.
Confidentiality and Security:
We maintain records relating to our professional services so that we are better able to assist you and, in some cases, to comply with laws, regulations and professional standards. We maintain safeguards; physical, electronic, and procedural, which comply with federal regulations and the standards of our profession. We maintain a written information security plan that describes these safeguards.
